Istanbul No-Dig Drain Unclogging
Cantley provides no-dig drain unclogging for homes and businesses in Istanbul. We look inside the pipe with a camera, find the exact spot of the blockage and clear the drain with a robot, a snake or pressure water, without touching your tiles or walls. For a blocked drain, the first idea used to be breaking into the floor or wall wherever the pipe was thought to run. That meant a dusty renovation, and often the wrong spot got opened. Today most blockages can be reached through the drain opening itself, an inspection hatch or a manhole.
What really matters in drain unclogging is knowing where the problem is. The camera image shows whether the blockage is a grease build-up, a broken bend or an object that has slipped into the pipe. The machine is chosen accordingly: a snake for narrow lines, a robot head for stubborn deposits, and high-pressure water for long, greasy lines. When the job is done, we run the camera through the line again and show you that it flows clean. Whether you need a single sink cleared or the main line of a whole building, the team comes to the address, explains the problem and starts only with your approval.
Signs that call for a no-dig approach
These signs show that the blockage is inside the pipe and can be reached without breaking tiles.
More than one drain has slowed down
If the bathroom sink and the shower both empty slowly at the same time, the blockage is most likely in the shared line where these drains join. There is no need to break the floor to reach it. We go in through the nearest access point with a snake or robot and clear the junction.
Gurgling and air sounds
If the sink gurgles when you flush the toilet, or air bubbles come up from a drain opening, there is a narrowing in the line that blocks the passage of air. The camera shows where that narrowing is, so nobody has to break a spot on a guess.
A blockage that keeps coming back
If a drain you cleared with a plunger blocks again after a few days, the problem has not stayed at the opening but sits deeper in the line. A small channel opened at the surface does not remove the layer of grease and limescale on the pipe wall. A robot head and pressure water strip that layer along the length of the pipe.
Smell even when water flows
If a sewer smell comes from the drain even though the water runs, there may be rotting deposit inside the pipe or a sagging section that holds water. The camera image tells you whether the source is deposit or a broken joint, and it spares you unnecessary breaking.
Broken open, but not fixed
If tiles were broken before and the blockage came back, the problem is not at the spot that was opened. Camera inspection shows where the pipe has collapsed or where it has a reverse slope. Even if breaking is truly needed, it is reduced to one small spot.
Why breaking tiles is rarely necessary
The drain pipes in a home are connected end to end along a single route. The sink trap, the toilet connection, the shower drain and the inspection hatches on the building's shared stack are the entry points to this route. Snake and robot machines work with flexible cables, so they can turn through bends and travel metres along the line to reach the blockage. The camera enters the same way and puts the inside of the pipe on a screen. That is why trying to reach a blockage from outside the wall is, more often than not, an old habit that comes from not knowing where the problem is.
Most blockages are not caused by a fault in the pipe itself but by material that has built up inside: grease that cools in the kitchen, hair and soap in the bathroom, wet wipes and pads in the toilet, soil and leaves on the balcony. These stick to the pipe wall and narrow the bore over time. Pressure water cuts this layer away, and a robot head breaks up hardened deposit. As long as the pipe is sound, breaking it open and replacing it would be an unnecessary and dusty renovation.
There are cases where breaking is truly needed, and we say so openly. A crushed pipe, a separated joint, a slope that has reversed or an old line that has collapsed from the inside cannot be fixed by cleaning. In that case the camera shows the location of the problem to the centimetre. So instead of breaking up the whole bathroom, we go down under a single tile, or the option of renewing the line is considered together with you. You decide which way to go, looking at the footage.

How we do no-dig unclogging
We follow the same order on every job, so you can see step by step which tool is used and why.
Camera inspection
When the team arrives, it first tests the drains and checks where the water stops. Then a waterproof camera with a light is fed into the pipe through the nearest drain opening or inspection hatch. The type and distance of the blockage appear on the screen, you are shown the image and what will be done is explained.
Clearing with a snake
In narrow lines such as sinks, showers and traps, a motorised drain snake is used. As its head turns, it drills through the blockage, winds the clump of hair and deposit around itself and pulls it out. Because the snake can turn through bends, it advances along the line it entered from the opening. On a porcelain toilet we work carefully with a protected head.
Cleaning with a robot head
For stubborn deposits such as hardened grease, limescale or roots that have grown into soil lines, the robot machine comes in. Its replaceable cutter and brush heads scrape off the layer without damaging the pipe wall. Drain clearing with a robot removes the need for breaking, especially on shared stack lines and long horizontal pipes.
Pressure water and final check
In the last stage, high-pressure water is run through the line. The water carries the loosened deposit on to the main line and washes the inner surface of the pipe. Then the camera goes in again and we see together that the pipe is clean. If needed, lasting measures such as fitting a backflow valve or replacing the PVC drain pipe are also discussed.
What you can do until the team arrives
- Stop using the tap, washing machine and dishwasher connected to the blocked drain. Every new bit of water raises the risk of overflow.
- Do not pour in chemical drain opener. If you already have, tell the team, because the substance left in the pipe can splash during the work.
- Do not try to break the tiles yourself. A hole made without seeing the blockage on camera usually ends up in the wrong place.
- Clear the area in front of the drain, the inspection hatch and the manhole cover, if there is one, so the team can start work without losing time.
- If water has spread across the floor, keep sockets and extension cables away from the wet area and, if necessary, switch off the fuse for that room.

Frequently asked questions
Does no-dig drain unclogging work for every blockage?
It works for the great majority of blockages, because the problem is usually grease, hair, wipes or deposit that has built up inside the pipe. If the pipe itself is crushed, broken or has lost its slope, cleaning alone is not enough. We show you this on the camera image, and if breaking is needed, we reduce the work area to a single spot.
Can clearing a drain with a robot damage the pipe?
Not when the right head and speed are chosen. The head of the robot machine is selected according to the diameter and material of the pipe: soft brush heads are used on PVC drain pipes and harder cutters on old cast iron or concrete lines. At the end of the job the inner surface of the pipe is checked with the camera and the image is shown to you.
How is a blocked sink cleared without breaking anything?
The trap under the sink is removed, or a snake is fed in through the drain opening, and the blockage is reached and broken up. If there is a problem further along past the wall connection, we look with the camera and, if needed, flush the line with pressure water. No tiles or countertops are removed. When the job is done, the trap is refitted and tested for leaks.
How does the camera find the location of the blockage?
The camera is pushed into the pipe on a flexible cable with a light on the end, and it sends the image to the screen. The markings on the cable show how many metres the camera has advanced. When this distance is read together with the route of the plumbing, you can tell which wall or floor the blockage lies under without guessing and before any breaking.
Can a building's main line be cleared without breaking?
Yes. Building stacks and main lines in the basement are usually cleared by going in through inspection hatches or a manhole. A robot and pressure water are the most effective methods on these long lines. When working with site and building management, we use the camera to show the source of overflows on lower floors and make clear at which level the problem lies.
Will a drain cleared without breaking block again?
If the deposit has been cleaned out completely, it is not expected to block again soon. A blockage that keeps returning usually points to a collapse or a slope problem in the pipe, and this is seen in the final camera check. Not pouring grease down the sink, using a hair strainer in the shower and not throwing wipes into the toilet keep drains clear for a long time.
