Ataşehir Shower and Bathtub Drain Unclogging
In most requests for shower and bathtub drain unclogging in Ataşehir, the problem shows up in the shower, but the cause often lies in the building's shared line. In older housing-estate blocks, bathroom pipes join the shared stack through long horizontal connections, so hair and soap residue build up at that point. Trying to clear a drain without seeing where the blockage sits simply moves the problem to another drain.
When we arrive, we first check whether the shower, bathtub and floor drains are connected to the same line. We inspect the inside of the pipe with a camera and show you where the blockage stops and whether the cause is hair, residue or a narrowed pipe. Then we clear the drain without breaking tiles, using high-pressure water jetting or a motorised drain snake.
Why bathroom drains block on the shared line in Ataşehir
In the older blocks of Ataşehir, the inner surface of the shared stacks has narrowed over the years. When a ground-floor flat reports that the shower is not draining, the cause often turns out to be at the shared point of the line coming down from the upper floors. Around Kayışdağı and İçerenköy, older apartment buildings and renovated ones stand side by side, so the joints where old pipe meets new PVC drain pipe are where problems most often begin. The question of which floor's owner is responsible for a section of the line also comes up often, and the camera recording settles it.
In newer residences, long vertical lines and a pumped collection system in the basement make the job more complicated. The overflow often appears in a different flat a few floors below, so we do not pass judgement without inspecting the line on site. Before the job we look at the plan and put the camera in at the right point, and during the work we tell the management which flats should not use water.
Frequently asked questions
I live on a lower floor in Ataşehir and my shower water is coming back from the floor above. What should I do?
First tell your building manager, without forcing your own drain. This is usually a sign of a blockage in the building's shared line. Inspecting the line with a camera shows which floor the problem is on.
If I can see a clump of hair in the shower drain, can I remove it myself?
Yes, opening the strainer and pulling out the clump of hair on top with a glove can be a first step. Do not use a chemical drain opener, as it can cause a reaction and burn risk in the pipe. If the water still does not drain, the blockage may be deeper and should be checked with a camera.
Could a smell from the floor drain mean a blockage?
Yes, in many cases residue has built up in the trap or the water seal has dried out. Scented products only mask the smell. Do not try to take the trap apart yourself. If cleaning is not enough, the inside of the line should be inspected on camera.
