Adalar Sewer Camera Inspection

Picture a shop on the main street where the sink drain runs slowly and the owner wants to know why the water always stops at the same spot. Or a small workshop on the island where the drain under the counter has slowed and a smell has started coming from one corner of the floor. In both cases the camera shows which section of the line has the problem, without any digging.

Many of the homes in Adalar are old wooden mansions, stone houses or summer houses that only fill up in the warmer months. In these buildings the joint between old cast iron pipe and newer plastic pipe can be the first place where deposits collect. In a house that stays closed all winter, the water in the traps drains away, and the grease and soap left in the pipe harden.

On the hills of Büyükada and in the inner streets of Heybeliada a truck cannot pull up to the door, so the camera and machines are split into lighter parts and carried by hand or on a hand cart. In houses with gardens, the drain often connects to a manhole in the garden, and leaves or pine roots can fill it. Near the sea the slope is slight, so deposits move along slowly, and on stormy days the flow weakens.
