# Istanbul Mini Vacuum Truck

Source: https://cantleyvidanjoraltyapi.com/en/mini-vacuum-truck/

A mini vacuum truck is a small-chassis vacuum vehicle that reaches the narrow streets, steep slopes, estate roads and low car park entrances a large truck cannot enter. It works on the same principle as a full-size vacuum truck: a vacuum pump draws the waste into a sealed tank, and the hose carries liquid and sludge out of a well, a manhole or a basement. At Cantley, we send a mini vacuum truck to all 39 districts of Istanbul, seven days a week, 24/7.

A large vehicle does not fit every address. In older neighbourhoods the streets are close together and narrow, some houses have the cover in the garden or courtyard rather than on the street, and in some buildings the cover sits behind the stairwell. In places like these, the right vehicle is the smallest one that can do the job safely. Even so, a mini vehicle is not always the right choice. We decide which vehicle to send based on a few questions we ask when you call.

A small vehicle may not be able to carry a large job in one trip. So we talk through how much waste there is, whether the job will be finished in a single pump-out and, if needed, whether a larger vehicle should also be planned, right from the start. We care about explaining this plainly so there are no surprises.

## Which addresses and jobs need a mini vacuum truck?

Before you call a large vehicle, it helps to think about whether your address suits a small one. These are the situations we come across most often.

### Detached house on a narrow street

In older Istanbul districts where the street is too narrow for a truck to turn, septic tank or manhole emptying is often requested. The cover is usually on the far side of the street or close to the house entrance. On a road this narrow, a mini truck can park at a suitable spot and run the hose to the cover.

### Closed car park with a low ceiling

If the entrance to an apartment block or office building car park has a height limit, a large vehicle cannot get in. In a flooded car park or at a manhole where sludge has built up, a small vehicle can do the pump-out. Describing the entrance height by phone is enough, and you can send a photo if needed.

### Building on a steep slope or a street with steps

A large vehicle heading to a building at the top of a slope may not be able to park properly. In places like this, the crew can find a safer position with a small vehicle and lay the hose along a shorter route. We want to know the gradient and where the vehicle will stand before we come to site.

### Small-volume septic tank or grease trap

A single house's septic tank or a small restaurant's grease trap is not a job that calls for a large truck. If the amount of waste is small, a mini truck finishes the job in less space and less time. If the amount turns out to be more than one load, we tell you plainly during the pump-out.

### Flooded basement room or small shelter

When water collects in a single basement room or in a small shelter under a shop, rather than in a large car park, a mini truck is often enough. When a large vehicle cannot get through a narrow staircase or a low door, we plan the job around the small vehicle and a short hose.

## What is the difference between a mini vacuum truck and a standard one?

The advantage of a large vacuum truck is that it can carry more waste in one go and run the hose across a wide area. The advantage of a mini vacuum truck is that it fits into tight spaces, is easy to position and does not block your neighbours' entrances. Both vehicles work on the same vacuum principle, and the difference comes down to access and the amount of waste.

We also ask questions to separate what a mini vehicle can do from what it cannot. For a deep line blockage that needs flushing with pressurised water, a combination truck is more suitable. For a septic tank that only needs pumping out, a mini truck may be enough. When you call, we work out together which one fits your address.

On the phone we ask for a few details: the type of waste to be removed, the rough size of the well or flooded area, the width of the street, the height of the car park entrance, where the vehicle will stand and how far the cover is from the road. With this information we decide whether a mini vehicle or a larger one is needed. We also tell you at this stage how the crew will approach the job.

Where the waste goes is the same for a mini vehicle and a large one. The waste is drawn into the sealed tank and taken to an authorised discharge point or a licensed disposal facility. We do not discharge waste into street grates, streams or the sea. You are entitled to ask about this, and you can always ask the crew.

## How does a mini vacuum truck job work?

At a narrow address, the biggest risks are the vehicle parking in the wrong place and the hose cutting off your neighbours' access. That is why we pay attention to positioning at every step.

1. **We talk through access by phone**: You can reach us by phone or on WhatsApp. Tell us the width of the street, the height of the car park entrance and where the cover is. Sending a photo makes the job easier.
2. **We choose the vehicle for the address**: Based on what you tell us, we decide between a mini, combination or standard vehicle and explain why we made that choice. Because motor vehicle use is restricted in Adalar, we plan jobs there with you first.
3. **We set the parking spot and hose route**: The crew places the vehicle at the safest point closest to the cover and lays the hose so that it causes the least obstruction in shared areas and at your neighbours' entrances. If needed, we put up a temporary warning sign.
4. **We pump out the waste**: We remove the liquid first, then the sludge that has settled at the bottom. During the pump-out we watch the amount of waste and the condition of the well or manhole, and we tell you what we see.
5. **We clean the area and report back**: We close the cover, wash the ground the hose crossed and leave the surroundings as we found them. After the pump-out we check the condition of the well or manhole with you and give our recommendation for the next one.

## What can you do before the crew arrives?

- Clear the area the vehicle will pass through on the narrow street or at the car park entrance. Temporarily move any bicycle, plant pot or waste container in front of the door.
- Find the cover and clear away any rug, soil or material on top of it. Do not try to lift a heavy cover on your own.
- Let your neighbours and the building management know in advance where the hose will run.
- If the septic tank or manhole is overflowing, do not run the washing machine or dishwasher until the crew arrives, and cut down on water use.
- If a basement or car park is flooded, switch off the electricity at the fuse box if it is safe to do so, and do not step into the water.
- Keep children and pets away from the open cover. Never go down into a manhole or a well under any circumstances.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does a mini vacuum truck take less waste than a large one?

We decide based on the amount of waste. A single house's septic tank or a small grease trap can usually be emptied with a mini truck. If the amount turns out to be larger, we tell you during the pump-out and recommend finishing the job with a larger vehicle.

### Can a vacuum truck get into a narrow street?

Yes, we use mini vacuum trucks on narrow streets. If the vehicle cannot fully enter the street, we park at the nearest suitable point and run the hose to the cover. Describing the width of the street by phone makes it easier for us to decide which vehicle to send.

### Will a vacuum truck fit through a low car park entrance?

If the entrance height suits the small vehicle, the mini vacuum truck can be taken inside. If the height or the turning space is not enough, we park outside the entrance and work with the hose. A photo of the entrance gives us the most accurate information.

### Can a mini vacuum truck clear a blocked sewer?

It depends on where the blockage is and the condition of the line. For a deep sewer blockage, a combination truck that can flush with pressurised water is usually more suitable. A mini truck may be enough for jobs that only need pumping out, and we assess this together with you by phone.

### Do you offer a mini vacuum truck service in Adalar?

Because motor vehicle use is restricted in Adalar, we plan the job with you by phone first. We talk through the location of the well, the access and the amount of waste, and decide on the right solution together.

### What affects the job when I call for a mini vacuum truck?

The amount and type of waste, the access to the address and the distance to the point where the waste is taken all affect the job. The choice of vehicle and how difficult it is to lay the hose also count. Once we have this information by phone, we explain plainly what affects what and why.

### Can I call a mini vacuum truck at night or on a religious holiday?

Yes, we work 24/7, so you can call at night, at weekends and on religious holidays too. An overflowing manhole or a flooded car park cannot wait. In an emergency, we send the most suitable vehicle after a few questions.
